My typical Saturday afternoon consists of meeting my best friends for brunch at one of our favorite local eateries to discuss our “extremely” busy lives. This week’s restaurant of choice happened to be California Fish Grill to discuss and formulate our new weight loss plan; which consists of moral support, group workouts, and the ever-popular “Weight Watchers” system.
Succumbing to the pressure of my already thin, beautiful friends, I decided that I would give “Weight Watchers” a shot. Luckily for us, I had just read an article on Mobile Marketer [read whole article HERE] discussing “Weight Watchers” newly launched iPhone application, which aides in the success of healthy lifestyle choices. No longer will I need to consult my laptop before going to a lunch decided upon by where I could eat based on my allocated points for the day. I can now make spontaneous lunch decisions with the help of my trusty mobile phone.
“Weight Watchers” new mobile application, which launched in September of this year, is designed to compliment their website. It is already wildly popular, offering more than 30,000 food options, heart healthy recipes, a point counter, and even GPS to the nearest Weight Watchers meeting. The application is free, giving registered users full access and non-registered user slightly less access to these features.
Mobile applications and WAP sites are extremely successful tools in creating brand recognition and consumer loyalty. With features like “Weight Watchers”offers, its hard to believe that the multi-million dollar corporation waited this long to integrate mobile into their marketing campaign.
According to Peter Phillips, Senior Vice President of weightwatchers.com New York, “Mobile is a huge part of what we’re doing because of the evolution of where the market is moving. Our goal is keeping people successful and addressing people’s demands.”
Philips adds, “When people are on the go, traveling, they like to go out to eat, and mobile phones are getting more capable to help them be successful and achieve their weight-loss goals”.
I agree with Philips; I eat out at least 7 times a week, and having access to a tool of this caliber would greatly help in successful weight loss; there really doesn’t seem to be anything that mobile can’t do.
Stay tuned and wish me luck!
Wheres the “Update Blog”??? Having lost 40lbs since August ‘09, I LOVE to hear about other peoples efforts and successes. I’ve been checking back regularly to get an update/benchmark/status report, or even an “I QUIT”!! Please let us loyal Textopoly Blog readers know how you are doing.
Hey Taryn,
Congrats! 40 lbs, wow! I’d love to hear how you were so successful. I have been diligently kickboxing and calorie counting. Not fun, but I’m proud to say I’m 10 lbs lighter! Now only another 10 lbs to go.
I hope it happens soon because my office is pretty tired of my constant snapping and irritability due to my lack of food consumption. Oh the things I do for my own vanity:)
Thank you!! I keep looking at the kickboxing class at my gym, but never actually showing up for it
10lbs. is great, especially if you’re doing it the hard way.
I have no great secret. I was working a 50+ hr/wk job, so I was eating 4 meals a day at my desk. All of it fast food, and no time to excercise if I wanted to see my family or sleep. I lost my job and now can cook everything fresh and get my wide butt to the gym. I also organized a weight loss competition amongst some of the family members. I won the first round, and when word got out about the size of the cash prize the second round grew QUICK!! As a group we lost (in the 2nd go round) 110lbs from Labor Day to Thanksgiving. We are really competitive. I won the 2nd round as well, dropping over 11% of my body weight in that time span.
I can’t wait to hear about you meeting your goal!! I’ve got 15lbs left myself. Heres hoping.
