Good morning to all you Textopoly groupies! So, I had a pretty interesting weekend. For the past few weeks I’ve been methodically attempting to re-design my bedroom and bathroom to resemble some of the amazing work on HGTV and I think I’m pretty close to being done! Some of the things I wanted to change in my bathroom were the vanity, and the flooring; so I went to the most logical place I could think of, Home Depot.
As in any home goods store, there were plenty of options for me to pick from and I was overwhelmed by the number of design and flooring options that I had. So, I did the only thing I could think of, take a picture from my mobile phone! As I went to pull out my camera phone, a Home Depot employee immediately instructed me that it was against policy for me to take pictures of any item in the store! I was completely dumbfounded! All I could think of were apps that allow you to take pictures of item numbers and bar codes and search local stores for the lowest price. This ‘policy’ disablespatrons to utilize any of those apps. I can understand how price shopping while at HD may disrupt their business model, but apps are what make this country so great. It is a form of freedom! Its just horrible to think that I can no longer compare toilet seat prices from one home store to another via my mobile. I should be able to compare prices anytime and from anywhere. Bottom line, I want the cheapest toilet seat in town!
Mobile has affected the way people live, communicate, and even how multi billion dollar corporations conduct business. The ironic thing is that mobile really hasn’t been around that long, yet its impact is clearly changing the all aspects of our daily life.
